Márcio M. S. Costa was born in Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil, in 1971. He received the B.Sc. degree in Naval Science (Electronic) from the Brazilian Naval Academy, Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil, in 1995, and the M.Sc. degree in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science from Technological Institute of Aeronautics (ITA), São Paulo, SP, Brazil, in 2009. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in Science and Space Technology at Technological Institute of Aeronautics. In 2018, he joined the Commission for Coordination and Deployment of Space Systems (CCISE), Brasília, DF, Brazil, where he has been Head of Lessonia Project, a spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) mission that belongs to Brazilian Strategic Space Systems Program (PESE - acronym in Portuguese), which comprises a part of the Brazilian Space Program. His current research interests are in Aerospace Engineering, Space Systems, Compact polarimetry, Radar polarimetry, Radar remote sensing, Spaceborne radar, Synthetic aperture radar (SAR). He is a Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
